Indoor Exhibits

Gutsy aquarium goers can hand-feed stingrays at the stingray lagoon, the most interactive exhibit the aquarium has had to date. Take a look at the rainforest wildlife at the Amazon exhibit, and don’t miss the Dolphin Bay ® Underwater Room, a 400,000-gallon saltwater tank housing Shadow and Kai, two beautiful bottlenose dolphins. From the Floating Phantoms to the eye-catching coral Flower Gardens, visitors can explore the exciting underwater world of the Gulf Coast.
 

Outdoor Exhibits

See majestic birds fly overhead in the Eagle Pass, an exhibit that also serves as a rehabilitation center for rescued creatures. Touch sharks and stingrays at the outdoor touch pool, then stop by Otter Creek as the playful animals interact with each other and their trainers. At Swamp Tales you can meet Bo, a 10-foot American alligator, along with six species of saltwater turtles. From Tortuga Cay to the Stingray Lagoon, the aquarium houses a long list of species in well-maintained natural environments.

  • Can I bring my pets to the aquarium?

    For the safety of your pets and the aquarium animals, pets are not allowed to visit the Texas State Aquarium.
  • Can I bring food to the aquarium?

    Yes, you can bring a sack lunch and sit outside at a picnic table. However, no outside food is allowed inside the building. If you get hungry while you’re walking around, check out the menu items at the aquarium’s Shoreline Grill, serving up sandwiches, salads pizza, pretzels and snacks.
